Social networks... used to be the water cooler, the break room, the neighborhood tap, or the street corner. Today, it is the likes of Facebook, Delicious, MySpace, Twitter, Plurk, Flickr, YouTube, and on and on and on. Text messaging has replaced intimate (as in face-to-face) contact, even to the point that talking on the phone for even a brief contact has waned. It is a brave new world for those of us who favored, even craved close contact with our friends, trying grow and cope in a less physical contact-oriented, more network connected world. My perspective on the Social/Web 2.0 world is coming from a baby boomer who is no stranger to the connected world or past the leading edge hardware/software technology. I enjoy being an early adopter (and critic) - I have a very low 5-digit ICQ number, though I rarely wade through the spam there. I am neither afraid of trying out new things nor being critical of them. One minute I can be George Jetson, the next, a luddite.
So, as I explore the Social 2.0 world, I will be adding information and commentary here, as well as on my blog, usually but not always tagged as Social 2.0. You may not always agree with me, even as to those things I refer to as a part of the Social Web. I appreciate your comments and feedback.
