[beware - rant start]Did you ever get that feeling that no matter how much you want something and how easy it should be to accomplish that it is always just beyond the reach of your fingertips because some anonymous person or force does not want you to have it?
I thought the business world was full of bull. They cannot hold a candle to academia. I have put my all into going back to school, getting pretty darn good grades, all to put up with the total incompetence of the powers to be in the administrative wing of my university. Lost transcripts (multiple times), little or no response (by email, by phone, and in person), and all with a smirk and a too bad, so sad attitude. My department, my professors, my adviser, my department secretary (she should be the president of the university - she rocks!) are all top notch and do everything that they can to make the academic environment one that is superior.
But, geez, if you have to do anything related to paperwork or billing or, god forbid, you have a question, enter the Twilight Zone. I can count on two hands the number of people I have met in the administration that have been helpful. The others I often wonder how they breathe and walk at the same time. And at my age, I have seen incompetence firsthand. I think that these people teach classes in it.
[rant end]
So, as I try and....
- register for my last undergraduate class (classes start Monday)
- petition for a course substitution (thank god they don't have to touch it)
- register for a May 2008 graduation
